Lime Peel Extract

Lime peel extract is derived from the outer skin of the lime (Citrus aurantiifolia or Citrus latifolia). It is rich in antioxidants, flavonoids, and essential oils such as limonene. In food applications, it is used as a flavoring or preservative due to its aromatic compounds and natural antimicrobial properties. There is no FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status specifically for lime peel extract, but limonene and natural citrus oils are generally considered safe for consumption in typical amounts.
