Polystyrene

Polystyrene is a synthetic aromatic polymer made from the monomer styrene, a liquid petrochemical. It is commonly used in packaging, disposable containers, and as an insulator in construction. It is not directly used as a food ingredient but can sometimes be in contact with food, such as in food packaging.
